You: Are you Spiritual or religious
Me: none, I only believe in things that can be proven recursively or atleast has a scientific explanation published by reliable and unbiased personals
You: what is religious to you??
You: And what is Spirituality??
Me: for me religion is set of rules. It gives direction to the directionless. It can be treated as a default. it's suppose to be teaching good morals, empathy and values. But history tells me that it has failed miserably.
Me: I see spiritually in a respectful way compared to religion. But it's very much focused on "me", "my" and "mine". i.e. looking within oneself, but not in others? Spirituality, if I'm not wrong, talks about going to an unknown place in search of life, while it doesn't talk about living the one you've. It's mainly suited for the escapist, someone who is trying to run away from the "now". And it helps them stay motivated and optimistic.
Me: if someone asked me "What should I be? Religious, Spiritual or Realist"
I'll say
Be a Realist, if you've the courage to question the norm, while understanding it. Helping society grow by voicing your opinion against what's wrong and supporting what's right. Because society (like it's counterpart, religion) is a set of rules, but these rules are still amendable and transformable. Society is basically, as I keep saying, "a religion in making", and you're one of the makers. Society can be improved and can do better, unlike religion, which refrains from changing it's set of rules which rightly worked during the era that religion came into existence.
Be Spritual, if the "now" you're living in either isn't in your control or if you've found defeat in being a Realist. There are some great aspects of spirituality, like meditation that can be followed independent of your belief system.
Be religious, if you're told to be and you don't want to question the norms. Some great learnings from religion can be camaraderie, optimism and discipline (if adopted correctly). Just don't kill or harm other people. If you and your religion is able to do that, and can detach itself from capitalism, then I'll start following your religion 😉
